It is that time of year again, the dreaded allergy season. I ask that if your children take medication for their allergies, or if their asthma is triggered by the changing of the seasons, that we start them on their medication as soon as possible. If your child carries and inhaler please check the expiration date and make sure the inhaler is with them at all times.
After serving 11 years as Barber Middle School's Nurse, I will be retiring on April 1st. Thank you for allowing me to take care of your children while at school. I am leaving your children in the very competent hands of our new School Nurse, Kamaria Payne, RN. Please stop by and welcome Nurse Payne!
I want to thank the families who sent in Clinic Supplies. These donations help the children in their time of need.
Here are some items that I will need throughout the year, so feel free to purchase some and stop by and say "hi" to me! Disposable Gloves - size M, SNACK size ziploc bags, Clear disposable cups 7-9 ozs., 3 oz. bathroom cups, Feminine Pads - regular to heavy flow, Saltine Crackers.
I want to thank the parents who had donated supplies for the clinic. Your children really appreciate them in their time of need! We could still use some more supplies, so if you're out shopping you might want to pick up 1 or 2 items. If each parent could donate 1 item we'd have a fully stocked clinic :-) Here are the items that we still can use: Tissues, Snack size ziploc bags, Gallon size ziploc bags, 3 oz. disposable cups, 7-9 oz. clear disposable cups, Contact Lens Solution (for soft lenses), Feminine Pads (medium-heavy flow), Saltine Crackers.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you might have at Julia.Plaut@cobbk12.org or 770-975-6764 X228
The students and I thank you for sending in Clinic Supplies. We could still use some disposable gloves, tissues, and individual cans of gingerale. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at 770-975-6764 x228 Thanks again!

For picking up your sick child from the Clinic, please park on the LEFT side of the driveway next to the green sign "Reserved For Clinic Parking". This sign is located half way down the driveway from the front office near the second speed bump. Enter into the double doors across from the sign, and the Clinic is the first door on the LEFT. DO NOT park on the right side along the red curb, since this is a fire lane, and the police are ticketing cars if you park in the fire lane. Thank you for your understanding.
The Clinic and your students "thank you" for the donated supplies!
Make sure your child is dressing according to dress code policy before coming to school. No shorts that are shorter than 4 fingers above the knee (small index card size), no tank tops, or cutouts showing skin or undergarments in areas that should be covered. We've had numerous students being sent to the Clinic to borrow clothing from the "Clinic Closet" for being in violation of the dress code. If your child has borrowed an article of clothing from the Clinic Closet, please wash it and have your child return it to the Clinic. If you have gently used clothing that would fit our middleschoolers, feel free to donate it to our Clinic Closet.
There is a new Georgia Law that effects school children with food allergies. If you do not submit a "Food Allergy Careplan" signed by a physician, the Cafeteria cannot flag your child's account. You can turn in the signed careplan to either the Clinic or the Cafeteria.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
