Social Studies

Charts comparing the 3 religions will be completed on Wednesday. Students will compare and contrast the 3 religions and their origins in the Middle East. Students should study their chart tonight.

Social Studies

Students will begin work on the research of the three main religions of the Middle East. They

will use a graphic organizer in order to cmpare and contrast the religions.

**Students received their grades from the Map Test on Friday.
**Student will receive their assigned textbooks or CD's on Wednesday.

The essays are due tomorrow.

Social Studies

Students in all periods will complete worksheets 24.3 and 24.4 for homework. They should have a packet that goes along with the worksheets. This will be due tomorrow.

Students also have an essay to complete by Monday. Students need to write a paragraph about the following:

1. How has oil affected SW Asia?

2. How has the lack of water affected SW Asia?

****Look at your notes in your SS folder to answer essay questions******

Students will have a Quiz on the geographical map of Southwest Asia on tmorrow. They can get 5 extra points if they return on tomorrow with a note stating that they have studied with you for at least 15 minutes. The note must be signed.

Social Studies

Students will conclude their study about Oil in the Middle East. Students will write an essay using their Social Studies notebook for reference. The students received their textbook letter today. Please return as soon as possible(Friday).

Students completed the packet: UNDERSTANDING THE MIDDLE EAST. They will continue to work on the effects of oil and water in Southwest Asia. Students also corrected their quizzes for extra points.

Students viewed Middle East: Land of Contrast. The video is a review of the physical geography of SW Asia and a preview of the three religions that originated in the Middle East. The students completed Ch. 15 A Students were encouraged to take notes from the video. Tomorrow we will discuss the effects of oil on Southwest Asia. Also, the students will receive their grade from their quiz on yesterday. They will have an opportunity to correct all mistakes in order to receive a better grade.

Students had an opportunity to finish the Water Crisis 3-column notes. These notes are due on Tuesday.

Students will begin and finish the graphic organizer for Ch 15 Section 1 Part A.

Students started finished the 5 theme notes using the article, "At Home in the Rub Al Khali."

Students created a postcard inviting tourists/ family members to visit the region. Students must include 4/5 themes information on the postcard (Location, Place, Region, Movement, and Human Environment Interaction)

Postcards are due by 8-22. Postcards will be graded on content, creativity and neatness.

7th grade Social Studies

The students completed their political and geographical maps of the Middle East. We are now reading about the impact of location, climate, physical characteristics of Southwest Asia (Middle East).

Sentence Completion...The Rub Al Khali is known as The Empty Quarter because...

Students also started 5 Theme Notes to dissect the article we read about a Bedouin in the Rub Al Khali.

Students will allowed to draw a mind map for the notes or write the notes in columns.

We will complete this activity on tomorrow.
