MONDAY: Today the students took their Poetry post test that addressed several elements of GPS ELA8R1. When they completed the test, students were allowed to read novels they had checked out of the media center last Wednesday. (Warm-up Download Warmup 214)

TUESDAY: After today's warm-up (see attachment on Monday), the students did a pre-reading activity to prepare for reading Maus. (Download Probable passage maus). We began reading the story and gathering notes to analyze the main character's personality traits, emotions, and motivations. We'll also focus on plot elements as well as tone and mood.
WEDNESDAY: There will be a substitute in the classroom today. Students have been advised that if their name is left by the sub, a referral will be written. Many students feel that they do not have to sit in their assigned seats and they can misbehave when a sub is in the room. My expectations have been made very clear, and therefore I will not hesitate to hand out severe consequences for those who make poor choices today. (Download Warmup 216)
