MONDAY: Students will complete journal entry #3 Download Journal 3 and then analyze the traits, emotions, and motivations of the several of the characters they have met thus far in the drama "Life is Beautiful." Download Characters to Review. We will conclude the class by watching a few selected scenes.
TUESDAY: Students will complete journal entry #4 Download Journal 4. After this, we will watch a brief powerpoint slide show that shows pictures from concentration camps Download Concentration camps. We will then read scene #49 from "Life is Beautiful" Download Reading Instructions and discuss how the mood of the drama has been established. Download Lesson Prep (Mood)
WEDNESDAY: Students will complete journal entry #5 Download Journal 5. After discussing the fundamentals of a one-act play Download Writing one-act play, they will form partnerships to begin writing a script for scene #50 of "Life is Beautiful." Students will practice using SWBS charts to find a focus for their one-act play. Download SWBS Chart
THURSDAY & FRIDAY: Students will be given a rubric for their one-act play Download Drama Rubric and will be reminded of the importance that dialogue has in a drama. They will analyze an ineffective piece of drama to determine how ot improve it. Download The Friendship Students will have most of the class period on Thursday and all of the class period on Friday to write their dramas.
