FRIDAY: The students turned-in their DGP and took a spelling quiz. After this, they watched the opening minute of a DVD version of the story we will read next week. We discussed what our reactions would be to each of the people we saw in the first minute of the story. We discovered that our reactions would vary depending on whether the person was a stranger, a neighbor, a classmate, or a family member.
We read the first two pages of the short story "Flowers for Algernon," and we started taking notes from the Progress Reports that the main character writes. Students can access the textbook on-line and continue to take notes until they have three note sections and three thinking sections completed.
