Mrs. Wilkie is in her second year as the Graduation Coach at Barber Middle School. She has been employed with Cobb County Schools for the past six years teaching two years at Awtrey Middle School before joining the Barber family as a Language Arts and Reading teacher. Mrs. Wilkie began her teaching career in Atlanta thirty years ago as Miss Edge, and after one year, she married and moved to South Carolina. After 25 years she and her husband moved back to the Atlanta area. While away, she earned her master's degree in Human Resource Management and worked in several years in public relations. She then returned to education 15 years ago as a business/education liaison and Career Development Facilitator. Mrs. Wilkie believes in making every minute count and that with every new day comes a new opportunity to obtain another "key for success". In addition to Language Arts and Reading, Mrs. Wilkie is certified to teach Special Education and Social Studies and is nationally certified as a Career Global Facilitator and Instructor. She also holds an Education Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision. Mrs. Wilkie, along with her husband and four children, live in Acworth.
