Ms. Huggins

Summer Huggins earned both her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Arkansas State University. She is new to Georgia and plans to make it her home. She is a seventh grade Co-Teacher. Throughout the years, Summer has worked in the social work and education fields specializing in diverse learning instruction and behavior management. When Summer is not working with students, she enjoys traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family.

Ms. Alexander

Melanie Alexander started teaching in 2000 at Durham Middle School. She made the move across the highway to help open Barber in 2005. Currently, she teaches 7th grade World Studies, serves as the 7A Team Leader and Social Studies Coordinator. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Education with concentrations in Social Studies and Language Arts. In December 2005, she earned a Master's Degree in Adolescent Education with a focus on Social Studies. She and her husband, Thomas, welcomed their first child Gavin in March 2006. When she is not on "Mom" or "Teacher" duty, she enjoys reading, shopping, and hanging out with family and friends. She is looking forward to another great year with Team 7A.

Ms. Pruett

Welcome to Seventh Grade Social Studies. My name is Ms. Pruett and I teach Social Studies on Team 7B. This is my second year at Barber Middle School and my fourth year teaching in Georgia. I previously taught 6th-8th grades in Alabama. I am is very excited to be back at Barber Middle School and look forward to another great year.

Ms. Rains

I have a passion for learning and hope that it is contagious in our classroom! I love to interact with other people, be outside enjoying nature and sports, read current events and historical fiction, and travel... so teaching Reading and World Studies is a perfect fit for me. I believe that every learner can be a shining S.T.A.R. What does that mean? S.T.A.R. is an acronym for Scholar, Thinker, Achiever, and Risk-taker. Just ask my husband and three children whom I also challenge to be S.T.A.R.'s! A goal I have set for myself is to visit as many countries in the continents I teach as I can. I still have a long way to go to reach my goal but it is fun to look forward. I hope to give students an engaging, real world, and thought-provoking classroom where our goal is to be S.T.A.R.'s!

Ms. Rhyant

Mrs. Anjulia Rhyant is teaching Advanced Content Social Studies in seventh and eighth grades at Barber Middle School. She has 10 years of experience in the field of education. Her alma maters are the University of Dayton (B.S.) and University of Georgia (Masters degree) GO DAWGS!!!. She is a native of Georgia but lived in Indiana where she taught for a period of 4 years . She wears many hats including being a wife and mother of two boys. Mrs. Rhyant has a strong passion for teaching and considers herself a learner for life. She is looking forward to an exciting year with her new students as they travel across the world and throughout Georgia.

Ms. Shearer

Welcome to Mrs. Shearer's blog. Although I am currently teaching sixth grade social studies, I have taught various levels from third grade through college. Twelve of those years were in Champaign, Illinois, where I also received my M.Ed. in Education. I had earlier graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Education. After returning to teaching eight years ago, I decided to build a house on Lake Allatoona and keep a boat at the neighborhood dock. My son Quinn is my pride and joy-even though he did graduate from Georgia Tech.

Ms. Sullivan

Ms. Sullivan has been a social studies teacher in Cobb County for the past eight years. Throughout her career Ms. Sullivan has served as team leader, coordinator of the Renaissance Program, and mentor of both students and teachers. Ms. Sullivan earned her Bachelors degree from the University of Georgia and graduated in May 2008 with her Masters degree from Kennesaw State University. Ms. Sullivan is very excited about helping students foster the skills needed to ensure a smooth transition into middle school!

Mr. Triebsch

Mr. Triebsch teaches Georgia Studies for Team 8B at Barber Middle School. He has taught in the Cobb County School District for the past 12 years, and returns to Barber for his 13th. Mr. Triebsch earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies from the University of Missouri - Kansas City; a Master of Education Degree in Middle Grades Education from Mercer University - Atlanta; an Educational Leadership certification from Kennesaw State University; and an Educational Specialist Degree in Technology Management & Administration from Nova Southeastern University (gonna hold off on that doctorate). Mr. Triebsch is married with two children, ages nine and five. He stays involved in his children's extracurricular activities including soccer, gymnastics, swimming, and whatever else he can find time for. He has been in the Atlanta area for fifteen years, hailing from Kansas City, MO. So, if you see Mr. Triebsch wearing red during football season, it's not a University of Georgia thing...it's a Kansas City Chiefs thing. And if it's black and gold, it's not a Georgia Tech thing...it's a Missouri Tigers thing! GO MIZZOU!

Mr. Walpole

Mr. Steven Walpole is a third year teacher at Barber Middle School this year. He currently teaches eighth grade Georgia Studies and is the team leader of 8A. This is Mr. Walpole's 11th year teaching and 8th in Cobb County. Before coming to Cobb, he taught 6th grade social studies as well as coached football and track in Clayton County. Mr. Walpole is a graduate from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Education. He looks forward to a great year.
